More design posts on the way!

Happy Campers | We're In Tents

I’ve not had very many design-related posts lately. Work was running me dry so my energy was depleted by 7 p.m. every Monday through Friday. On weekends the house usually bogarts our time, which I’m alright with since I love it so much and all, but it just leaves so little time for actual creative design. Well, that is, until May 30. Today marks one month since my last day at College of Architecture. After nearly five years at OU I decided I wanted to … Read more…

Jute Twine Wrapped Monogram Ampersand

Though I’ve been busy crafting and domestic-ing away, I haven’t had much time to actually blog about what I’ve done. I have a small backlog of projects that I’ll try to get posted, if for nothing else than to get the photos off my desktop. A few weekends ago, after some unsuccessful attempts to find flooring for the living room, lights for the kitchen and some other large-scale domestic frustrations, I decided I needed to give myself a small project so I … Read more…

WEEKEND PROJECT: Gifts for Pets (and using leftover craft scraps)

About two weeks ago I wrote about my pine cone door hanger. I’ve also crafted a few other things… Though I’m no longer a starving student, the crafty poor kid in me still likes making handmade gifts. While I was waiting for inspiration to strike looking through Martha Stewart’s homemade gift ideas, I found a Feather Cat Toy and Shrinky Dink Pet Tag. These worked out great because for the most part I had all of these ingredients left over from other projects. Both actually turned … Read more…

WEEKEND PROJECT: Orange Burlap Halloween Ruffle Wreath

Last fall I kept telling myself I’d get around to making seasonal decorations but it just never seemed to happen, so today I decided to use my do-nothing Sunday to craft something seasonal. I can’t take the credit for inventing this, I saw it somewhere a while ago, but I will take credit for making better directions. I’ve only ever seen limited photos and vague directions that left one to wonder “But how!?” Also, because without it this wouldn’t have happened, I … Read more…

WEEKEND PROJECT: Pretty covered boxes

pretty covered boxes - finished

A few weeks ago while I was waiting for my camera to charge so I could tackle my giant stack of potential eBay revenue, I decided I was tired of looking at my super trashy kitchen organization. Of course I still don’t have glass in the cabinet doors, but at least I can make what’s behind them a little more attractive…   I used Con-Tact shelf liner because it’s an incredibly easy and inexpensive way to finish this project. Con-tact also makes other … Read more…

Oreo Truffles!

Chocolate-Dipped Oreo Truffles Sprinkles

My co-work-blogger and I have, at this point, totally hijacked our college’s blog in an effort to create better, more interesting content so we can interact with and better serve our students and alumni. This week’s engaging, family-friendly content was a simple recipe for a sweet Valentine’s Day-themed foodstuff crafty craft. We spent Super Bowl Sunday making Oreo Truffles with our families and we documented the process. These are really easy to make, easy to decorate, and require only a few ingredients (in … Read more…
